Here at UK Christmas World we sell both LED lights and traditional incandescent Lights but LED’s are becoming an ever more popular option, so we thought we would share with you a few reasons why.
There are so many benefits to be gained from using LED lights, they can save you money when buying your decorations this year, as well as being safer, and kinder to the environment too.
What are LED’s?
Also known as Light Emitting Diodes, LED’s are used in many electrical items from Christmas lights to television screens and LED clocks to mobile phones. A diode is an electrical component that conducts electricity in one direction. As this current is passed through, the diode emits a bright light around a small bulb. LEDs can produce a whole spectrum of colours and shine brightly using very little energy to do so.

Although LED bulbs are more expensive to buy in the first place, over time they work out cheaper as they have lower electricity costs.
Another reason why LED’s are the preferred bulb for Christmas decorations is that they do not get hot like their traditional incandescent alternative, so they are much safer to have in the home, you don’t need to worry about keeping them away from other materials or objects etc. They can be left on for hours on end with virtually no heat produced and cool to touch. This also means there is less chance of a fire hazard or danger to children, as they are less likely to get burned when touching them when looking at the tree, for example.
LED lights are made from non-toxic materials, are recyclable and are considered eco-friendly, whereas incandescent lights use mercury in their composition which may pose danger to the environment.
There are a tonne of reasons why LED Christmas lights may be seen as a favourite nowadays, it’s clear why people much prefer them.
