Commercial Christmas Tree Lighting

Tree Lighting with outdoor lights are probably the easiest and most popular of lighting installations. You can either drape light strings around the tree branches or wrap around the trunk and branches.

The advantage of wrapping lights in branches is they can be left in for a long time and can be switched on for the Christmas season - or you could just leave them in all year round! One thing to remember is to check the light strings have not been tightly wrapped around the branches – therefore ‘strangling’ the tree – depending on tree growth this could be every 2- 3 years, but most definitely remove and reinstall after 5 years.

Dependent on the stability of the tree, mostly, draped lighting could be left in the tree, just allow time for possible replacements as they are more likely to be damaged or ripped with severe wind and rain.

  • Evergreen trees such as spruce, pines and first are fuller, which means you will likely need 25% more lights than the standard recommended count.
  • Deciduous trees are much more slender and as they lose their leaves in winter generally you do not need as many strings of lights, but you might want to add a couple of extra strings to fill them out.
  • There are two types of lighting effects to dress a deciduous tree: light strings draped onto branches or light strings wrapped around the branches and tree trunk.  The table below is for light string branch draping – just double it for wrapping.
  • Remember – our XP lighting range is all connectable.
